Spotlight on Eden Grange, River Calder, and top day-ticket lakes to fish now

IN 12 acres of stunning countryside, Eden Grange Fishery offers fantastic fishing in tranquil surroundings.

If you enjoy catching big bags of carp, head to the Match Lake, where pole fishing is the dominant tactic.

Most anglers start the day fishing tight across to the far bank with maggot or pellet, while feeding a line down the middle of the lake in the deeper water.

Unusually, some of the best match weights come out of this fishery as the weather gets colder, so don’t be put off by the recent drop in temperature.

Carp to 25lb can also be found in the Carp Lake, and these are best targeted using boilies and fishery pellets as bait.

Feed a scattering of loose offerings over each rod to get the carp searching around, then present a boilie hookbait on a hair rig over the top.

The Catfish Lake is stocked with only catfish, and these have been caught to weights of nearly 30lb, making this the perfect place to target your first moggie.

Large halibut pellets work very well. Be sure to present these on strong tackle, as fishery rules state that a minimum of 17lb line and size 6 hooks are used.

Eden Grange also has a number on-site facilities, including a small tackle shop where baits such as pellets can be bought, as well as hot food that can be delivered to your peg.

The fishery prides itself on
