RIVER WELLAND, SPALDING, LINCOLNSHIRE
THE stretch of the River Welland through the town in Spalding is currently full of fish, with quality roach the main target.
Bread can work very well, particularly if the water is clear. Feeding a ball of liquidised bread and fishing a piece of punch over the top will put you in touch with roach and the odd skimmer. If there is colour in the water then a groundbait and pinkie approach can score well, and under these conditions some massive catches can be put together.
It is always worth feeding some hemp further across the river, as this is where some really chunky roach can turn up later in the day. CONTACT: Granz Angling, 01775 712206 PRICES: Free fishing
