Mental health patients moved
PATIENTS were due to be moved earlier this week after a building refurbishment programme to relocate inpatient mental health services, on an interim basis, from Argyll and Bute Hospital to Mid Argyll Community Hospital.
Donald Watt, interim locality manager for Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay, said: ‘Over the last few months Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership has been carrying out building refurbishment works in the lower ground floor of Mid Argyll Hospital to relocate inpatient mental health services from Argyll and Bute Hospital.’ Mr Watt confirmed patients were due to be transferred to the new location on Wednesday July 26.
He added: ‘This move will allow us to provide inpatient mental health services in an environment that not only meets the needs of patients and staff but which is housed in a facility that has been specially adapted for this purpose.
‘We will also be operating an enhanced care environment within the ward to allow patients, who require higher levels of observation and a quieter environment, to be cared for locally.’
