Coun­cil hails Ar­gyll ex­ams suc­cess

WAS an anx­ious day for some on Tues­day as they waited for the post­man to de­liver their exam re­sults.

Across Ar­gyll and Bute there was a 100 per cent pass rate in Na­tional 4 ex­ams, with 1,551 qual­i­fi­ca­tions be­ing awarded.

At Na­tional 5 level an 81.4 per cent pass rate saw 3,744 grades achieved. A to­tal of 2,202 Highers were awarded re­sult­ing in a 75.9 per cent pass rate for all Higher ex­ams sat and a 77.2 per cent pass rate for Ad­vanced Highers meant there was 227 Ad­vanced Higher qual­i­fi­ca­tions achieved.

Ar­gyll and Bute Coun­cil’s pol­icy lead for ed­u­ca­tion, Coun­cil­lor Yvonne McNeilly, said: ‘Con­grat­u­la­tions go to all of our young peo­ple through­out Ar­gyll and Bute for their suc­cess in their ex­ams.

‘We want to en­sure our young peo­ple are equipped to se­cure and sus­tain pos­i­tive des­ti­na­tions and achieve suc­cess in life.

‘Sup­port­ing our pupils to get the best pos­si­ble out­comes is a pri­or­ity for the coun­cil and the suc­cess of these exam re­sults is down to the hard work of pupils and teach­ers and the sup­port and en­cour­age­ment of par­ents and guardians.’
