Aray cheer

Argyllshire Advertiser - - LETTERS -

LAST weekend was a good one for Inveraray.

Both the Royal Burgh’s shinty teams managed excellent victories, leaving the second team virtually assured of promotion. The senior team meanwhile revived its chances of figuring in the national league title shakedown come the end of the season.

But the big one for Inveraray was the magnificent achievement by Stuart Liddell and the pipe band. Argyll folk may be low in number in the band’s international ranks these days – but make no mistake, this is Inveraray’s pipe band.

Congratulations to Stuart, pipe sergeant Alasdair Henderson, originally from Dunoon, that fantastic drummer Stephen McWhirter and to band members past and present. But there is a small band of committee members, sponsors and supporters who have done the donkey work over the years and deserve a massive pat on the back for their efforts.
