Argyllshire Advertiser - - LEISURE -

COFFEE, cake and a book signing are on the agenda for Argyll Book Centre, Lochgilphead this weekend.

Neal Ascherson will visit the bookshop tomorrow (Saturday August 26) to promote his first work of fiction which was published this month. The Death of the

Fronsac is a story of divided loyalties, treachery and exile; about people in flight from the destinies that seemed to be theirs before the war disrupted the world they knew.

This is an unforgettable re-creation of life in wartime and of the tragic fate of Poland in the 20th century; a novel about sabotage, betrayal and the terrible sadness of exile.

Other works by Neal Ascherson that will be available on the day include The Black

Sea, a homage to an ocean and its shores and a meditation on Eurasian history; and Stone Voices: the Search for Scotland, which weaves together a story of Scotland’s past during the time of geology, archaeology, myth and legend, with a story of modern Scotland and its identity.

The book signing will take place from 2pm-3pm in the bookshop.
