A BUSY weekend at Glenralloch kicked off last Saturday with the second round of the Archie MacNab Memorial Cup.

A tightly bunched group of five players all had a chance to win this sought-after trophy and, despite the horrendous conditions, with continuous rain and wind, they battled it out.

Gordon McCaffery scored well to finish in third place on 71 points, while vice-president Chris Smyth took second place with 72 points, having played particularly well on the back nine.

The overall winner was Bruce MacNab, who shot a 70 for 37 points on the day and a total of 74. Iain Macalister who was unable to play in the first round, had the second best score on the day with 36 points but took the magic two pot with chipin birdies at both the third and eighth holes. Vice-president Smyth presented the trophy to a delighted Bruce, who thanked the hardcore members for turning out on such a horrible day.

On Sunday, the ladies section ran the mixed doubles breast cancer awareness open with a healthy number of teams taking part and raising a fantastic £406 in the process. Lochgilphead husband and wife team Jim and Ele Hunter took first prize with a net score of 61.5 followed by Bill and Rona Young on net 64. Coming in third was Ryan McGlynn and Donna McKellar on 68.5.

Lady captain Rae Bleasby thanked all who took part and was grateful for all the donations and prizes received.

This Saturday the Tarbert Golf Club Am Am takes place with tee times currently still available.
