Pipe Band de­light as it bags cash do­na­tion

THE SQUARE Peg own­ers have an­nounced the lucky win­ner of an on­line vote for bag money.

Mid Ar­gyll Pipe Band came out on top with 22 per cent of the vote on The Square Peg’s Facebook page to win the £183.25 do­na­tion - raised through 5p charges on plas­tic bags.

Pipe Ma­jor Craig Lang said he was de­lighted the pipe band won the vote.

‘We are very hon­oured to get the money,’ he said. ‘There were a num­ber of very good char­i­ties in­volved in the vote, so we are ab­so­lutely de­lighted.

‘The money will be go­ing to­wards uni­form for the band.

‘We have a lot of young­sters start­ing so we need kilts, jack­ets and equip­ment.’

The cheque was handed over to Craig by Jilly Wil­son of The Square Peg cafe and gift shop in Lochgilp­head on Tues­day Septem­ber 5 - In­ter­na­tional Day of Char­ity.

Jilly said: ‘There are so many wor­thy char­i­ties and causes lo­cally it’s re­ally dif­fi­cult to de­cide. I thought it would be nice to let our cus­tomers, fans and lo­cal peo­ple make the de­ci­sion for us.’
