Immerse yourself in Dalriada Gaelic

Argyllshire Advertiser - - Leisure -

THE SOUND of our native Argyll tongue will be heard once again.

The small team at Dalriada Gaelic has been working to collect evidence for the dialect of Bute, Cowal and Mid-Argyll over the past seven years in order to revive it as a spoken tongue.

Now it is time to hear the local dialect used in the community again as it was for many centuries leading up to the Second World War as a weekend-long immersion course is held at Auchindrain Museum.

The course, discounted for Argyll and Bute residents, will be held on October 14 and 15, with lunch included in the price. Also included will be a fire-cooked dinner and ceilidh house atmosphere within the township on the Saturday night.

So bring your instruments and singing voices to Auchindrain and learn simple conversation, how to talk about flora and fauna, how to kindle a fire and more – all in the local dialect – at the very first Dalriada Gaelic immersion weekend.

Contact Àdhamh for more information on gaelic@dalri or call 07954 620 165.
