Remembering the fallen
INVERARAY will host its remembrance service on Sunday November 12, with world champions Inveraray and District Pipe Band marching from the church to the front green at 10.45am, followed by a service at the town memorial at 11am.
The pipe band will be filmed marching down the street at 2pm by the BBC for its Hogmanay programme, which will feature aerial drones to capture the scenery around Inveraray from above.
The Inveraray band will be filmed to celebrate Scotland being recognised as the most beautiful country in the world by the Rough Guide readers’ poll.
LOCHGILPHEAD Community Council and the Armed Forces Day committee will jointly host this year’s remembrance services, with a parade from Lochgilphead Parish Church to the memorial at 10.45am on Sunday November 12.
Following the parade, there will be a short service at the church followed by soup and sandwiches.
A REMEMBRANCE service in Ardrishaig Parish Church will take place at 10.45am on Sunday November 12.
Following the service there will be a laying of wreaths at the war memorial in Ardrishaig at around midday and in Achahoish
FURNACE’S memorial service will take place at 1.30pm on Sunday November 12 at the village war memorial.
Argyll caravan park and Minard
ON SATURDAY November 11 at noon, a ceremony will take place at the HMS Quebec Combined Operations memorial and after a service at Killevan cemetery in Minard.
LOCH Fyne Church of Scotland in Tarbert will host a wreath-laying at 11am on Sunday November 12, meeting at 10.45am at the war memorial. Loch Fyne Pipe Band and the army cadets will be present at the memorial.
Following the wreath-laying there will be a service at the church at 11.45am.
Tayvallich and Bellanoch
NORTH Knapdale Parish Church will hold a wreath-laying ceremony on Sunday November 12 at Barnluasgan War Memorial at 9am.
Following this, the Rev C Acklam will take a service at Bellanoch Church at 10am.
