In­ver­aray Pipes and Heron Val­ley are up for awards

TWO of Ar­gyll’s top mu­si­cal groups are up for pres­ti­gious awards in the tra­di­tional mu­sic world.

Fes­ti­val favourites Heron Val­ley from Cowal are nom­i­nated in the Up and Com­ing Artist award, with world cham­pi­ons In­ver­aray and District Pipe Band nom­i­nated for Scot­tish Pipe Band of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Mu­sic awards.

Other nom­i­na­tions for mu­si­cal acts in­clude Skip­in­nish and Tide Lines, both up for the Live Act of the Year award.

The awards will take place in a glit­ter­ing cer­e­mony at Pais­ley La­goon Cen­tre on Satur­day De­cem­ber 2, as Pais­ley vies to be­come City of Cul­ture 2021.

Per­for­mances on the night will come from Tide Lines, Siob­han Miller and the Shee Big Band.

Event founder and pro­moter Si­mon Thoumire said: ‘A mas­sive con­grat­u­la­tions to all of our short­listed nom­i­nees – we can’t wait to wel­come them to Pais­ley for the cer­e­mony.

‘Hands Up for Trad is ded­i­cated to show­cas­ing the level of tal­ent in this coun­try, and the awards are a real high­light in the cal­en­dar each year.’
