Taking a different view of the poppy

Argyllshire Advertiser - - NEWS -

THE Peace Pledge Union (PPU) has been distributing white poppies during the remembrance period since the 1930s.

Less familiar than the red poppy, the white variety is a symbol of remembrance for ‘all victims of war’, says the PPU.

At Lochgilphead Coop on Saturday November 4, PPU member Mary Stirling was assisted by Bob Dixon in promoting the poppy in return for donations.

Bob said: ‘We’ve been really surprised by the number of people who have never seen a white poppy before and stopped. We have had some really interesting chats.’
