Depleted Tarbert FC turn in disappointing performance against Millbeg
Millbeg 4 - 1 Tarbert ON SATURDAY March 31, Tarbert FC travelled to face Millbeg with a depleted squad.
The home side took the lead after 15 minutes when their young number 10 evaded three Tarbert players and slotted a deflected effort in at the near post.
Tarbert battled well and limited the home side to a few clear cut chances in the first half, the best of which was parried for a corner by the Tarbert keeper. The reward for staying compact came towards the end of the first half as a Tarbert corner wasn’t cleared and young Finn Scott volleyed in his first senior goal for the club, making it 1-1 at half time.
Millbeg came back strongly in the second half and scored a second goal early on with a fine finish into the top corner after a square ball from their impressive number 10.
A third goal arrived which went into the postage stamp again by Millbeg’s number 10. He was a constant thorn in the side of Tarbert and won a penalty shortly after as a clumsy tackle from Craig Johnstone allowed the chance to make it four. The number 10 stepped up only for his spot kick to sail over the crossbar. He wasn’t to be denied a hat-trick though as with 10 minutes remaining he skipped by a couple of challenges and slotted home his third to make the final score 4-1 for the home side.
