Glenaray and Inveraray Parish Church annual fundraiser
The Glenaray and Inveraray Parish Church sale is now on.
The annual fundraiser offers shoppers an Aladdin’s cave of second hand goods displayed in Inveraray church hall.
Open 11am until 4pm Monday to Saturday, all the required coronavirus precautions are in place. Just eight customers are allowed entry at a time and a track and trace book is in place. Hand sanitisers are there to be used on entry and exit. Face masks must be worn.
Church officer Wilma Wood said: ‘All donations of goods are welcome. Anyone wanting to volunteer to help with the sale rota, just call in and put your name down.
‘We hope to stay open up to the end of November as long as people keep donating goods and folk come in and buy.’
Wilma added: ‘The church has its first service this Sunday since March.’
The new two-year apprenticeship will feature training across the gardening spectrum and being involved in all aspects of Achamore’s restoration whilst gaining academic qualifications delivered by Argyll College UHI’s Horticulture Department.
Bryony White, head gardener at Achamore, said: ‘By training up our own apprentices we can offer young people a high-quality training placement and bring more young people to the island which is great for the island’s economy. I hope that the Achamore Apprentice Programme will become a vibrant, ambitious and diverse programme, offering young people far more than just the bare minimum requirements and giving them the skills and future potential for a lifelong career in horticulture.’
