DIVISION 4

THE division saw the status quo maintained as Trafford again pipped Nene Valley and both now look certain to gain promotion to National division 3 for next season.

They won 15 of the 19 A-string events between them, with Trafford bagging nine. Many performances were not really of National league standard but there were some of note.

Brighton & Hove City only put in a token appearance but did have 17-year-old Harry Baker, the Horsham Blue Star first claimer, take the high jump in 2.00m, despite the wet conditions.

Many clubs relied upon veterans and junior athletes to fill their teams in this division and Nene Valley Harriers saw 16-year-old Ronal Rawlings take a “B” sprint double in 11.14 and 22.45 seconds.

Trafford’s 65-year-old Pawlo Ostapowycz won the B string javelin with a season’s best 40.79m.

Portsmouth’s 16-year-old Lachlan Wellington took second spots in the 1500 and 3000m races.
