WILTSHIRE GIRLS BREAK ANCIENT RECORD
A TEAM of Wiltshire school girl athletes has carved half a second off a county 4x100m record that has stood since 1970.
Competing for Kennet
Area at the Wiltshire Schools Championships for minor girls and boys last month, the quartet of 12-year-olds clocked 56.2 seconds to beat the previous record, set 47 years ago, of 56.7.
The team comprised Phe Phe Pye, Talia Eastlake, and Eliza Hill (all Dauntsey’s School) and Edie Noble (Lavington School) and they finished three seconds ahead of their rivals.
With the exception of Eliza, all girls train with the Marlborough & District Junior AC.
