TWO-TIME Olympic champion and world record-holder Barbora Spotakova regained the title she last won in 2007 and underlined her position as the most successful athlete in her event, though only with a 66.76m throw.
She joins Steffi Nerius as the only four-time world medallist. It was her 10th global final and she has also competed in six European Championships.
The best throw at London though came from Lu Huihui who threw an Asian record 67.59m in qualifying but only 65.25m for third in the final.
While the winning distance was the second shortest behind Mirela Manjani’s 66.52m in 2003, six over 64 metres has only been previously surpassed in 1987 with the old much easier specification where Fatima Whitbread won with 76.64m.
