THERE was a Bri­tish one-two in the 100m, as De­siree Henry ran 11.61 (-1.4) ahead of her world sil­ver medal-win­ning GB 4x100m team-mate Asha Philip with 11.65.

De­spite hav­ing been man­ag­ing pain caused by cysts be­hind each of her knees (see News, p19) Henry was able to help se­cure that re­lay sil­ver and also reach the semi-fi­nals of the in­di­vid­ual 100m.

Now her fo­cus is on re­turn­ing next year fit and healthy, with the Euro­pean Cham­pi­onships a def­i­nite aim and other plans yet to be de­cided with her coach, Rana Rei­der.
