Milton Keynes Cross Challenge entries
ANDY VERNON and Gemma Steel are among the entries for the British Athletics Cross Challenge in Milton Keynes this weekend.
The second of five meetings in the 2017-18 winter series is held at Teardrop Lakes on Saturday and gives athletes a further chance to earn Cross Challenge prizes at the end of the winter if they build up enough points.
Vernon’s potential rivals include Sam Stabler, who won last weekend’s Leeds Abbey Dash 10km, plus some of the fastest runners from the national cross-country relays, such as Chris Olley, who anchored Tonbridge to men’s team gold in Mansfield, and Mahamad Mahamad of Southampton.
Steel is set to face InterCounties champion Jess
Judd, world cross competitor Claire Duck, rising star Harriet Knowles-Jones and the UK’s top-ranked 10,000m runner in 2017, Katrina Wootton.
In the younger age groups, the under-20 women’s race features talents like Khahisa Mhlanga and Amelia Quirk, plus under-17 runner Ella McNiven.
The meeting incorporates the Chiltern League, which will ensure a busy, lively day at the venue.
