THE TESTER’S VIEW FROM THE WHEEL OF A MCLAREN

Auto Car (UK) - - INSIGHT -

You might think Mclaren’s chief test driver, Chris Goodwin, represents a very different kind of test driver from the Millbrook crew. He leads a much more freewheeling lifestyle, testing road and competition cars all over the world, racing Mclaren’s GTS and occasionally helping to demonstrate new machinery to both media and customers. But in some ways, his duties are similar to those of Millbrook’s professionals.

“Mclarens are different from other supercars because they’re easy and fulfilling to drive both fast and slow,” he says, “and because they can be deeply satisfying to professionals and to drivers who’ve never raced a car in their lives. Our latest 720S is perhaps the best example of that so far — extremely fast but fun to drive for anyone. Bringing that level of versatility and polish to a new car takes a lot of miles. We pride ourselves on doing what it takes.”
