ASTON VS THE REST
LM GTE CONTENDERS IN 2017
CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R
Chevrolet doesn’t race in the WEC, but it’ll compete in the USA before meeting its rivals at Le Mans. The Corvette C7.R struggled in France last year, but was right on the pace of its rivals at Daytona in January.
FERRARI 488 GTE
Top Ferrari team AF Corse has entered a brace of 488 GTES in the LMGTE Pro category this year. In 2016 it beat Aston Martin Racing to the LMGTE Am drivers’ and teams’ titles, and pushed the British team hard in LMGTE Pro.
Last year’s LMGTE Pro winner at the Le Mans 24 Hours kicked off 2017 with a class victory at the Daytona 24 Hours. Ford isn’t resting on its laurels and is again running ambitious assaults on both the IMSA and WEC crowns.
PORSCHE 911 RSR
Last year was a poor one by Porsche’s standards and it is determined to bounce back with a radically redesigned 911 that shifts its flat-six forward into a rear mid-engined layout. The new car pushed Ford all the way at Daytona.
