34. JAGUAR I-PACE

THE I-pace will pioneer Jaguar’s electric future. Previewed as a concept at last year’s LA Motor Show, the baby SUV will sit on a new aluminium platform designed specifically for JLR’S electric cars – with a 90kwh lithium-ion battery giving a claimed 395bhp and 300-mile range. Performance will be brisk, too, with 0-62mph taking around four seconds.

The use of two compact electric motors frees up space in the cabin, so the I-pace can be shorter than the current F-pace SUV. In fact, Jaguar bosses say there will be more kneeroom in the back than in a BMW 7 Series.

Of course, the I-pace will be a tech showcase for JLR, with not one but three infotainment screens. The concept had a 12-inch HD display in place of the dials, a central 12-inch touchscreen and a 5.5-inch set-up below. It’ll get a host of autonomous driving functions, too. Expect a production version late this year, to arrive in showrooms in 2018.
