Welsh drivers most likely to praise work
Those living in Wales and Scotland leave positive reviews
MOTORISTS in Wales and Scotland are most likely to recommend their garage, according to a survey by The Motor Ombudsman.
Reviews left by more than 179,000 respondents revealed drivers in the southern Scottish counties of Berwickshire and West Lothian, as well as those in the Welsh areas of Cardiff, Neath, Port Talbot and Bridgend, are the most loyal when it comes to the work of their chosen garage. The study also found women and those aged over 65 were more likely to share positive reviews, while those aged 26-39 were least likely to do so.
Nationwide, an impressive 93 per cent of franchise dealer customers would make a recommendation, which rises to 99 per cent for those that have visited an independent business.
Eight of 10 people said knowing the garage was signed up to an approved code of practice played a key part in choosing an outlet.
Bill Fennell, chief ombudsman and managing director of The Motor Ombudsman, said: “With so much choice as to where to get your car repaired, word of mouth remains a powerful source of business. A high standard of service and workmanship is what motorists expect. We are therefore continuing to see more garages signing up to our code.”
