17. Fiat

THIS year there were areas the Italian manufacturer scored well in, but others where it floundered, leading to an overall 17th place.
For example, Fiat ranked a very impressive fifth overall for infotainment, connectivity and electrics, with owners especially impressed by the switchgear on board their cars. The company was also rated 10th in the exterior category, as drivers reported that the brand makes stylish and solid cars.
But it placed 26th for practicality as the lack of child-friendly features, boot space and seat flexibility in its models came in for criticism. There were more problems in the interior and comfort category, where Fiat was 20th. Visibility from the driver’s seat and styling were rated well, but owners want extra rear legroom and more comfortable seats.
Buyers had no real issues with Fiat engines, although 18th place here suggests they could be more refined. Also, 17th for running costs shows fuel economy could be improved.
