Porsche power for S8 super-limo
THE upcoming Audi S8 and S8 Plus high-performance limousines will use engines from fellow VW Group brand Porsche, including a plug-in hybrid powertrain, Auto Express can reveal. The A8 is based on the same modular architecture as the Porsche Panamera, so it can use the same set of engines.
The S8 will use the same 542bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the Panamera Turbo, while the S8 Plus will use the plug-in hybrid system from the Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid. This features a 136bhp electric motor alongside the 4.0-litre V8. The total output is likely to be toned down for the Audi, but it will still be over 630bhp.
