X-perience shares many mechanical elements with its Skoda rival, but do the subtle differences that the Spanish brand has made add up to a winning recipe? SEAT ’S X-perience takes the Leon ST estate and adds an off-road flavour with plastic body cladding and more bodywork protection, to match the Skoda.

It teams the same 148bhp 2.0 TDI engine, six-speed manual gearbox and permanent four-wheel-drive system as the Scout, to provide plenty of punch and traction without sacrificing efficiency.

While both cars use the same VW Group MQB underpinnings, there are a number of subtle differences that set the SEAT apart from the Skoda. The question is, do these enhance or detract from the X-perience experience?
