New car market continues to cool
NEW car registrations fell for the fifth consecutive month in August, with diesel sales down 21 per cent, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Last month saw 76,433 models registered in the UK, a fall of 6.4 per cent. Registrations for 2017 have now reached 1,640,241, down 2.4 per cent.
Alternative fuel vehicles helped cover the drop in diesel demand, registering a 58.4 per cent increase in August.
