UK fac­tory boost as Sun­der­land gets Leaf

NIS­SAN has con­firmed that the sec­ond­gen­er­a­tion Leaf EV will be built in the UK, at the brand’s fa­cil­ity in Sun­der­land.

Pro­duc­tion will start to­wards the end of this year, fol­low­ing on from the pre­vi­ous Leaf, which was made at the fac­tory from 2013. It will also be built at plants in the US and the firm’s home mar­ket of Ja­pan. The out­go­ing Leaf was the first mass-mar­ket EV, with Nis­san shift­ing 283,000 units over seven years.
