WARRANTY and service provider Motoreasy has launched a new device that it claims is the world’s first to feature warranty policies in addition to telematics services.

The plug-in fitc connects to the car’s engine ECU via the on-board diagnostics port (OBD) and provides realtime telematics and health data. It monitors everything from engine health to the status of the battery, and is linked to owners’ smartphones via the Motoreasy app, which is available for both IOS and Android devices.

This allows drivers to remotely check the condition of their car, as well as track it in case it is stolen. Motoreasy says the fitc telematics device is the world’s first to feature a ‘plug-in warranty’. The telematics device monitors the vehicle’s health and will flag any impending issues to owners before they develop into faults.

If problems do occur, they are covered under warranty policies that last between 24 and 36 months. The fitc package will also connect owners to one of Motoreasy’s 10,000 garages in the UK for any servicing or repairs.

Drivers will also be given tips on how to save fuel and be reminded when their annual service is due. Motoreasy says prices for the plug-in device plus warranty plans start at £27 per month, but cost varies according to the vehicle.
