Murray teases hi-tech sports car
GORDON Murray Automotive has detailed plans to launch a small sports car under the relaunched ‘IGM’ brand.
The car is previewed in this official image (above), and the production version will be revealed in full at a later date.
It’s the first model to emerge from the manufacturing company established by famed Formula One designer Gordon Murray, and is said to be inspired by the engineering principles and driveability of the Mclaren F1 he designed 25 years ago.
The low-volume two-seat coupé uses Murray’s eco-friendly ‘istream’ lightweight chassis-building technology, making it more rigid yet 50 per cent lighter than a normal chassis. Murray claims it will be “focused around the driver” and will be powered by “an exciting powertrain, bucking the current trend”.
He promises advanced technology and aerodynamics for the new car. It will be produced at a facility in Dunsfold, Surrey, alongside a range of several platforms.
