WITH so many talented rivals in the luxury SUV class, it’s easy to overlook the BMW X5. However, while it’s getting a little long in the tooth in terms of design, it still delivers performance and efficiency that are hard to match.
The 3.0-litre straight-six diesel found in the 30d and 40d models has plenty of pulling power – so they’re ideal for towing – yet both are still capable of 40mpg on a good run. Factor in the spacious cabin, and the X5 is still worth considering if you’re after a luxury SUV.
