LOOK across our results tables, and you can see our tyres are divided into groups. Toyo and Kumho were closely matched, but were a step, albeit a small one, behind the best performers here.
There was even less between the Falken and Hankook as both focused on wet and dry grip at the expense of snow performance. Nexen proved its range revamp has put it at the head of the Far Eastern tyre makers.
Goodyear and Nokian could barely be separated across our 15 tests, and are the standout performers with a winter focus. The winning Michelin works sufficiently well on snow to the point where it matches some winter tyres, but its ability in the wet and dry makes it best suited to UK conditions and reduces the compromises inevitable in a tyre used all year round.
