AS you’d expect of Volkswagen’s most luxurious SUV, the Touareg is an impressive machine. It shares its basic architecture with the old Porsche Cayenne, but has been tuned to deliver a more relaxing drive.

Only one engine is offered: a V6 diesel with either 201bhp or 258bhp, linked to a smooth auto box. Just be warned that unlike rivals such as the Audi Q7, the Touareg is not available with seven seats.
