SEAT has been a frontrunner in the hot hatch market for a number of years now thanks to cars like the Leon Cupra 290.

The Leon keeps things simple with its looks, especially next to the Honda, although it packs pace to worry the Type R thanks to 286bhp, a dual-clutch gearbox and adaptive dampers.

It’s still relatively comfortable, too, and while the 380-litre boot is par for the course, this should be an easy hot hatch to live with.

A strong showing in our Driver Power 2017 satisfaction survey resulted in a seventh-place finish for the Leon out of 75 new cars, plus SEAT was ranked sixth out of 27 makers.

Leon scores with its solid, well laid-out cabin
