MCLAREN may be struggling on race tracks, but under Mike Flewitt, the road car division is forging ahead. Its composites facility is on stream in Yorkshire, the Senna hypercar was sold out long before its existence was publicly confirmed, and the firm’s mainstream offerings, the 570S and 720S, are heading out of the Woking factory in increasing numbers and with ever-improving quality. Flewitt saw the potential in ‘bespoke’ creations, and a lot of the firm’s output is now tweaked by Mclaren Special Operations.
