Toyota’s new Supra sports car will go on sale in 2019 – under the name of its newly launched road car performance arm, Gazoo.

Insiders revealed in Tokyo that the car is undergoing final testing and will be used to build awareness of Toyota’s emerging performance arm, Gazoo Racing. The limitededition Yaris GRMN, on sale next year, is the only Gazoo product prepared for sale in Europe to date.

In addition to the hybrid range-topper, it is thought likely that the Supra will also be launched with the option of 243bhp four-cylinder and 328bhp six-cylinder engines derived from BMW, which has developed the Z4 on which the new Supra is based.
