Autocar - - FIRST DRIVES -

Price £28,495 On sale February What’s new? All-new model enhances appeal with new safety features and cabin tech The new XV mixes the rugged offroad capabilities of its predecessor with a more polished overall finish. It gets a host of advanced safety tech and a more premium-looking interior while keeping the old XV’S 220mm ground clearance and symmetrical all-wheel drive.

No car in this class is more capable or easy to drive off-road. It also rides nicely on the road, although driver enjoyment is somewhat hampered by the car’s 154bhp naturally aspirated 2.0-litre boxer engine and CVT gearbox.

That’s because, compared with punchier rivals, the XV’S engine needs to be wound up far more before offering its best performance. SS
