I greatly enjoyed your article on the best 1990s cars (Autocar, 12 September). Your inclusion of the Fiat Tempra reminded me of the time I rented one in the early 1990s to drive from London to Wales via Devon and Cornwall. Apart from its poor stability in crosswinds, what sticks in my mind is that it is the only car I have ever come across that had illuminated column stalks (the symbols were backlit). Do any readers know of any other cars with this pointless feature?
