It took my breath away
I was pleased to see the reference to the Peugeot 405 in your article on 1990s cars (12 September). I owned a GRI model in which I did 155,000 miles. I still reckon it was the best car I have ever had. At the time, it was said that Peugeot made their own shock absorbers/spring dampers. Do you know if they still do this?
Don Maclean Worcester I had a 405 too, Don. Great car. I don’t believe PSA makes its own dampers any more. It became very expensive and the specialist suppliers lifted their quality standards at the same time. Accurate calibration became possible by more conventional means – SC
