HORBURY: A MAN OF MANY MARQUES
Peter Horbury, Geely’s global head of design since 2011, has been designing cars professionally for 47 years. Since finishing his master’s degree in transport design at the Royal College of Art in 1973, he has worked for Chrysler once, Ford twice, Volvo three times, the Premier Automotive Group (leading Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln and Volvo) and the Coventry-based MGA design consultancy.
Nowadays, his job encompasses a wide collection of Geely-owned marques, ranging from the all-new Lynk&co brand, through Malaysianbased Proton and the much upgraded London taxi firm LEVC (soon to launch its own electric commercials) to Lotus, now in the throes of devising a new, Uk-made two-seater range before it branches out, as Porsche has done, into SUVS. There’s no shortage of work, says Horbury, with considerable understatement.
