Car park row at clubhouse

-

They’ve spent £ 1.9 million on a swanky new clubhouse designed to draw in more people.

Yet not a single extra car parking space has been allocated at Troon Links.

Without more spaces the continued chaos in surrounding streets will continue, the town community council heard last Tuesday.

Even since the car park has fully re- opened, cars have spilled onto Golf Crescent, Golf Place, Victoria Drive, Harling Drive, and Henderson Drive.

Community councillor Erica Williamson said: “At the weekend the car park was jammed full and cars were parked right on the corner at Victoria Drive.

“I have complained about this since they started working on the clubhouse.

“I thought once the construction was finished that would be it, but the car park is obviously not big enough.

“Can something not be done by the police as their parking cuts your line of vision and I am worried there will be a crash or a pedestrian knocked down?”

Police pledged to investigate and the meeting heard there was no current answer to the parking issue.

Apparently land deeds from the Duke of Portland stipulate the course cannot be eaten in to to provide extra hard standing.
