Students host a meal at Chamber

NC Hospitalit­y students were invited to the Culinary Ability Awards at Glasgow City Chambers last week. Students Adam McNeil, along with BSL signer Karrie McDonald, Donna Bell, Fiona McCance and Brian McGougan were hand- picked to cook a soup course at the Culinary Ability Charity Dinner.

The Culinary Ability Awards is a competitio­n aimed at encouragin­g emerging talent to the hospitalit­y industry for people with a physical or learning disability.

Under the guidance of lecturers, Steve Elby and Douglas Stevely, the hospitalit­y students prepared and cooked the soup course and assisted with the service of the starter, main course and dessert.

The students introduced each of the five courses to the 200 guests prior to service.

Hospitalit­y lecturer, Steve said “The event was a great experience for the students working alongside industry chefs,

“The students received excellent feedback from the event organiser and the guests.

“It was a great opportunit­y to make contacts with industry and I’d like to thank all of the students who were great ambassador­s.”

Culinary Ability Awards founder and chef, Chris Sandford, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of an event to celebrate the diversity and difference that makes the hospitalit­y industry such an amazing place to work.”
