Gala attack

Ayrshire Post - - NEWS -

A gala day attack landed a man with a £ 270 fine.

Martin Johnston, 22, admitted assaulting Dean Neil during the community event at Drongan Primary School on August 6 last year.

Ayr Sheriff Court heard how both men had been drinking, and the attack was sparked by alleged comments made by Neil towards the accused’s girlfriend.

A not guilty plea to a second charge of repeatedly kicking Neil on the body to his severe injury was accepted by prosecutors.

Daniel Wilson, 22, had appeared as a co- accused on the second charge but walked free from the dock as his not guilty plea was also accepted.

Johnston, of Barbieston Avenue in Drongan, must pay his £ 270 fine by November 2 this year.
