Talk on exotic birds by traveller
RSPB Central Ayrshire Local Group is launching the winter season of talks and outdoor meetings on September 18.
Once more a varied and interesting series of illustrated talks will inform and entertain members and visitors alike.
Speakers will transport the audience to exotic places but will also engage with birds and wildlife in this country and deal with some issues of concern.
Outdoor leader Jim Thomson will again guide the joint RSPB/ SOC field trips.
He has chosen a few favourite haunts but he has also chosen some new destinations.
Jim’s knowledge of birds and the natural world in general will again surprise his audience.
Tony Scott is organising a weekend trip to RSPB Leighton Moss and WWT Martin Mere in November.
Both places have been visited by the birders before and are very worthwhile destinations at this time of year.
More information is available at the indoor meeting.
Liz Leyden will be the first speaker; her subject is ‘ Birding in India and Sri Lanka’. Liz, of course, is well known to the group. She has travelled widely and has always returned with a wealth of interesting information and stories to share, illustrated by her superb photographs. Liz’s talk is preceded by membership registration.
The talk is on Monday, 18 September at 7.30pm in Hall B of the Newton- Wallacetown Church, 60 Main Street. Parking is available on Main Street or Garden Street.
As always visitors are warmly welcomed.
