Care home’s 60 jobs bid for town cen­tre

A ma­jor care home cre­at­ing 60 jobs is planned for the site of a small Troon soft­ware com­pany.

Maid­safe have oc­cu­pied an of­fice as tenants on the 0.79 acre spot at Tem­ple­hill for years.

But they are now look­ing for a smaller base in Prest­wick.

An East Kil­bride based com­pany Nor t h c a re ( Scot­land) and run by Wil­liam and Mar­garet Saw­ers and fam­ily is be­hind the new 50- roomed de­vel­op­ment.

The com­pany, which posted prof­its of nearly £ 1 mil­lion last year on, al­ready run four homes and is open­ing a fifth in the spring.

They say the new home in Troon would cre­ate 60 jobs and in­clude a cin­ema, vis­i­tor cafe and a beauty sa­lon.

North­care has pub­lished plans of a T- shaped block of two wings with be­tween 12 and 13 bed­rooms on each floor.

The front fa­cade onto Tem­ple­hill is planned as a three storey with bal­conies over­look­ing the street.
