Ram­blers: Change of route

South Ayr­shire Ram­blers h av e a c h a n g e f rom Satur­day ’ s pro­grammed walk, Falls of Clyde, due to Forestry op­er­a­tions .

In­stead, they will of­fer an easy 6.5- mile walk start­ing at Changue Vis­i­tors’ car park east of Barr.

From the vil­lage, the walk climbs to the Car­rick For­est. A de­scent to Wa­ter of Gregg and a visit to Kirstie’s Cairn are fol­lowed by a grad­ual climb up forested slopes.

A de­scent to the Changue burn sees the walk re­turn along the val­ley back to the car park. De­tails from Iain McMurdo ( tel: 07540 170982). Meet at Prest­wick Rail­way Sta­tion car park for 8.50am de­par­ture.

Ayr & District Ram­bling Club of­fer two walks on Sun­day. One group will head south of Car­sphairn for a 10.5- mile cir­cu­lar walk on paths and open hill­side, start­ing at For­rest Lodge.

The to­tal as­cent will be 960 me­tres and the walk is likely to take at least five hours. De­tails from David Al­li­son on 01292 739529.

The eas­ier op­tion is a 9.5mile cir­cu­lar walk start­ing from Dal­blair in the Glen­muir val­ley near Cum­nock. The route first fol­lows a track in the Glen­muir val­ley and branches to cross the moors on a straight track into the val­ley of the Gass Wa­ter. De­tails from John Wal­ter on 01292 560341.
