Funbox delve into the deep on stage
They’re some of Scotland’s best- loved children’s entertainers – and they’re heading back to Ayr.
Funbox – a touring music and comedy troupe starring Gary Coupland, Anya Scott- Rodgers and Kevin Macleod – will take to the stage at the Gaiety Theatre on Sunday, September 24.
And with years of experience as writers and performers with the legendary Singing Kettle troupe, the afternoon is sure to be great fun for all the family.
Gary said: “We’ve been coming to Ayr for around 30 years, and the Singing Kettle always had great crowds.
“When that came to an end in 2015, we understood that the songs that we sing have to be kept going.
“It was one of the best days in my life when I phoned round theatres looking to get bookings and they said they’d be
delighted to have us.”
It’s been non- stop fun for the Funbox three since their first show in 2015, as they head out on their ninth tour in two years.
And as well as thrilling generations of youngsters, the three say their new shows feature the same traditional songs and silliness as well as their own brand of manic humour with a modern twist.
Kevin said: “We’ve been described as fresh and edgier than before.
“Even the big people are enjoying it - we spotted a few grown- up mermaids and deep sea divers at our DVD recording in February.”
The trio bring their brandnew show for 2017, Underwater Adventure, to Ayr later this month.
The show sees them voyage beneath the waves, to the bottom of the ocean, as they find “somefin” fishy going on in their latest singalong tale.
The funbox is locked and the gang will have to cause a splash because their magical keys are all tucked up in the sea bed.
Fluffy and Flossie the Funsters will dive in to lend a hand - and everyone’s favourite salty sea dog Bonzo will join the acquatic action.
Packed with favourites such as When The Boat Comes In, The World Must Be Coming Tae An End and Hole At The Bottom Of The Sea as well as brand new songs, the show promises to be the perfect swimalong singalong treat for kids of all ages.
Tickets for Funbox’s Underwater Adventure at Ayr’s Gaiety Theatre on Sunday, September 24 are on sale now, with prices ranging from £ 9 to £ 15.50.
