Caught with drugs
A drug dealer was caught with £ 250 worth of heroin during a police bust.
Officers armed with a warrant raided a Prestwick flat finding Gerald Ambrose in possession of seven grams of the drug.
They conducted the search on July 18 at Kildonan House, Ayr Sheriff Court heard last week.
Depute fiscal Jacob Tomnay said: “After the search Mr Ambrose was cautioned and charged and said it was for his own use.”
Lawyer Colin Adam said Ambrose, 43, and two other drug users bunched together to buy the diamorphine in bulk.
Mr Adam said:“He had taken the responsibility of making the purchase. The drugs were to be divided three ways.” Describing Ambrose’s motives, he said it was social supply rather than commercial.
Ambrose, of Limekiln Wynd, Mossblown, admitted having diamorphine in his possession with intent to supply to another or others.
On sentencing, Sheriff Carole Cunningham said he avoided prison by the“narrowest of margins.”
The Sheriff ordered him to carry out 180 months of unpaid work and undergo community supervision for 12 months.
