Fireworks night out for private booking at Dumfries House

Ayrshire Post - - NEWS -

The spectacular annual fireworks show at Dumfries House has fizzled out this year.

A shock announcement on Monday told fans of the huge display there would be no colourful show next month.

A post from the 2000- acre Cumnock estate apologised for the short notice and promised Ayrshire’s biggest display would be back in 2018.

Thousands of people flock to the venue to see the sky lit up behind the Palladian country house to the sound of music.

The Dumfries House social media post said:“We are sorry to announce that there will be no firework display at Dumfries House this year. We would like to apologise for the short notice and hope we will see you next year at an extra- spectacular 2018 Firework Event.”

A Dumfries House spokesman said:“The fireworks event was not scheduled for this year due to a long- standing booking for a private event at the house itself. Staff have begun to make plans for a bigger and better 2018 fireworks display and, in the meantime, look forward to welcoming guests to forthcoming community events such as Santa’s Grotto and festive candlelit tours of the house.”

The fireworks extravaganza is understood to be one of the largest in the UK.
