Council bosses warned to get on same page

Council bosses have been warned to get “on the same page” in a bid to rebuild trust with staff.

Leader Douglas Campbell issued the stark broadside while laying out the authority’s new five year plan.

The Programme for Effective Governance had been expected to be heavy on policy and strategy.

Instead, the SNP chief took his chance to put top earning officials on notice.

He said: “We need to be giving our staff a clear and ambitious direction.

“And we need to be capable of tackling the needs of individuals.”

Conser vative Pet e r Convery asked: “Are you of the impression some of our management team are not on your wavelength?”

And Cllr Campbell replied: “We’re either on a journey on the same page or we’re not.

“That is a clear message for all of the leadership in the council.

“Staff need to trust us to have their back when something goes wrong.”

The strategic vision for 2017- 2022 was set out by SNP, Labour and Independent members making up the council’s administration.

Objectives include creating a “better health and care system to suit local people’s needs” and “making the most of the local economy”.
